The Recap with CEO Jake Dunlap #98
– Take a Stand –
It’s been an eventful week. On Monday, our CEO, Jake Dunlap, released a statement regarding our solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement. We are donating $5,000 annually to the ACLU until the violence against black people inflicted by law enforcement comes to an end.
We are encouraging other companies to also take a stand. Many people have been reaching out to Jake asking how they can contribute to the cause. It’s important to understand that this is just the beginning.
Dismantling racism is a process, not a trend. Every day is another opportunity for non-black salespeople to evaluate ways they can use their privilege to help black people in their communities.
This week’s recap is a little different as Jake goes on live to talk more about how we can continue to create change and not be silent.

Event Pick of the Week
Thursday Night Sales, hosted by Justin Welsh, Scott Leese, and Amy Volas featured Kevin Dorsey, Morgan Ingram, and Nicky Ivy yesterday.
Unfortunately, we don’t have that video to share, but Kevin, Morgan, and Nicky spent an hour and a half discussing how the black community is experiencing everything that’s happening and the things people in the sales world are doing during this crisis that they shouldn’t be.
One of the big takeaways, that can be tough to understand, is to stop asking people how they are doing. The answer is, “Not good.”
If you want to be a part of the solution, that’s fantastic, but it’s about taking action. There are a lot of different ways to do so, and Jake shared a post by Scott Leese that talked about all the ways he’s taking action that a lot of people may not be thinking about. Find the time to read it here.
#AskJakeAnything
Sales leaders are also wanting to take a stand against prejudice. Jake offers this advice:
Acknowledging the problem isn’t enough. Take an active role in making sure underrepresented groups in your organization are being heard – and amplify their voices.
Think about what you’re doing in your hiring and onboarding processes to ensure diversity.
Take a Stand
There are many ways to take a stand during this period of time. If you can, donate to organizations fighting for the movement. Invest in anti-racism resources to educate yourself and your team on how to be actively anti-racist.
Listen to your black co-workers, employees, and friends. Use your platform to share their voices.
